We offer three courses this summer.
1. Robot Automation
This course is designed by Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Academy and taught by a certified EV3 & RogotC instructor. The instructor has a life career of Information Technology with advanced degree in higher education. The course module teaches Lego Robot building and ROBOTC Intermediate Programming for LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 which includes videos, animations, and step-by-step lessons designed to learn text-based programming using the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 hardware and ROBOTC 4.x for LEGO MINDSTORMS.
The curriculum consists of two basic chapters (Motion and Sensing) and three Challenge Chapters (Pipeline Explorer, Barcode Scanner, and Automated Car Park) Each chapter is broken into units that teach key robotics and programming concepts.

2. Microduino: STEM Smart Technology
The TIME magazine listed Microduino as one of the “5 Kits Can Teach Kids About Computers and Coding” and EE Journal listed it “The 5 Best Things from World Maker Faire 2015”.  Microduino is a perfect tool for STEM education. Being a superset of Arduino, we have been setting up tech programs for many schools all the way from Grade 6-12 and college. Many universities such as University of Southern California, UC Berkeley and Tsinghua University have credit courses with Programming in Microduino/Ardunio.

Microduino modules are easy-to-use, stackable with magnetic connectors and Arduino compatible. Each module has its own function, like WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS, amplifier, sensors, etc. Simply stack the modules you need, you can create your own projects such as drones, robots, GPS trackers, 3D printers.

  • A community: 10,000+ strong working and interacting with each other creating over 700 Wiki pages of instructional how-to’s and 500+ possible projects;
  • Educational – By creating a simplified platform, Microduino is the perfect learning tool for all classrooms and fits seamlessly into the STEAM education discipline;
  • Flexible – With 50+ modules and 30+ sensors, the possibility are endless;
  • Fun – Simply stack modules and paired sensors for infinite number of projects.

3. Arduino IoT
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for anyone making interactive projects. There are literally thousands of projects and opportunities to deepen student knowledge in Arduino. This is a platform that can be equipped with a variety of sensors to follow lines, solve mazes, and a variety of other activities (students will be required to write programs in order to perform the necessary tasks)

Students will learn to:
• build simple circuits
• program the Arduino
• troubleshoot projects
• learn to control sensors
• work with others to build your design
Schedule

Class 1: August 1-5, (1.00-4.00 pm)

Class 2: August 15-19, (1:00-4:00 pm)

(Open to kids ages 12-17)
Location: Cerritos, CA (detailed address will be released later)
Price: $300/class
At the workshop students will have access to Arduinos, breadboards, computers, basic parts, sensors, and motors. Students can load the Aruduino Develop Environment on their laptop, build their own project, as well as use other test equipment.

After completing the above courses, students will be presented with a Certificate of Completion endorsed by the President of US Chinese Information Technology Association. The winner of the “USA Youth (K12) SMART Technology Competition” projects will be further awarded with medals and trophies.
Students have the opportunity to apply for the RoboDroid Team to participate in the local, state, and national FLL competition, led by experienced winner and certified coaches.
